Questions people actually ask.
If yours isn't here, email hello@snifftag.com — a real person replies.
Does my pet need to wear the tag all the time, or just when they're missing?
All the time. The whole point is that the tag is on them before they get out — a tag in a drawer can't do anything. It's lightweight, durable, and the printable versions are tiny enough that even a Chihuahua won't notice. What if my pet won't tolerate a collar?
Stick the QR onto a carrier, harness, or wherever a stranger might end up looking. The QR doesn't care what it's glued to.Does the QR work overseas?
Yes — anywhere a smartphone has a data connection. The finder's page is hosted on our servers, not your phone, so there's no roaming or app-store hassle. The owner alert reaches you via SMS and email wherever you happen to be.What if there's no signal where my pet is found?
The scan page is small and caches aggressively, so it usually loads even on a single bar. If the finder genuinely has zero signal, the moment they walk back into coverage the scan completes and you'll get the alert with their last known location. What does the finder see?
They see your pet's name, photo, and anything you wrote in the description (allergies, "don't chase cats", etc). They tap one button to share their location with you, and we relay the alert. Sharing your phone number is your choice — by default it stays private and finders reach you through us, but you can flip a setting to show a tap-to-call button on your pet's page if you'd rather they ring directly. How do I cancel?
One click in settings. No phone calls, no "are you sure" loops, no retention team. Your tags keep working until the end of the period you've already paid for. What happens if I lose the printed tag, or it gets damaged?
Reprint the PDF as many times as you like — it's in your dashboard forever, and the QR keeps the same identity. Is this a replacement for a microchip?
No — and please don't treat it as one. Microchips are the legal record of ownership and need a vet to read. Snifftag is the bit that helps a stranger help now, before the chip ever comes into it. Use both.
Your number stays private unless you choose to share it. Finders send a location, you get the alert — direct contact is opt-in per pet.
The finder just scans and taps once. Works on every modern phone, no install, no friction.
